Brent Phillips is a senior product manager with Microsoft’s intellectual property and licensing division and responsible for marketing and business development programs for the Novell Interoperability Alliance. Brent joined Microsoft in 2006 and helped the company establish and drive its framework for interoperability that included the development of the Interoperability Vendor Alliance and the Interoperability Executive Customer Council. Both programs, among others, foster open collaboration and innovation among IT organizations to improve the way heterogeneous systems work together. In particular Brent spends a significant amount of time understanding how open source and commercial business models can align to drive greater value for customers.
