Build Your Community Health Information "Design for America" Using Mindtouch and Spotfire Analytics

Location: Wilson Room

I would like to see us pilot having government employees “put their desktop in the cloud” as not only a way to save infrastructure costs and increase collaboration, but also a way to preserve the artifacts of their career so when they retire the people have a record! I asked NARA if they liked this suggestion and they said they had been thinking about the same idea. See http://blogs.archives.gov/online-public-access/?p=1039&cpage=1#comment-906 I think the only way the OGD will really be effective is if individuals (government and non-government) write and carry out their own Open Gov Plans in collaboration with others doing the same – see for example my efforts in that direction at http://epa.wik.is/OpenGov Also see http://semanticommunity.net/ and http://www.semanticuniverse.com/articles-put-your-desktop-cloud-support-open-government-directive-and-datagovsemantic.html for more details. Thank you for a great BoF discussion last night! Let’s work on publishing government data that passes both the “mom’s test” and the the “statistician’s test”. LoD is a great concept but needs simplier presentation and higher quality data to be meaningful.
