The ongoing AreYouSafe initiative mines and mashes-up data, in order to connect one's exact location with detailed local crime stats, to convey real-time relative safety. The resulting visual mediums are heat-maps, and an iPhone app that's a Geiger counter for crime.

Since launching in 2007, CrimeReports.com currently works with more than 600 agencies nationwide and is growing by about 10% each month. Participating cities include Los Angeles County, Boston, San Francisco, San Jose and hundreds of others.
